Survey at The Economist: Obama has Superior Economic Plan

The Economist magazine surveyed responses from 146 economists, and found overwhelming support for Barack Obama’s economic plan. Some interesting statistics:
- Over 75% of economists think that the economy is either 4 or 5 on 5-point scale from “not important” to “very important”, with 5 being “very important”
- 80% of respondents think Barack Obama will pick a better economic team
- 80% of respondents think Obama has a better grasp of economics
- About 70% of respondents would rather work for Obama
Some telling quotes:
“Although I have tended to vote Republican,” one reply says, “the Democrats have a deep pool of talented, moderate economists.”
And there’s no love lost between economists and McCain:
“John McCain has professed disdain for ‘so-called economists’, and for some the feeling has become mutual,” says Erik Brynjolfsson, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. “Obama’s team is mainstream and non-ideological but extremely talented.”
In my opinion, that is exactly what America needs: non-ideological talent.
